Privacy Policy
Deep Packet Filter is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.
Last updated: April 20261. Who we are
Deep Packet Filter is operated by Transcom Internet Services, a UK-based internet services company established in 1993, developed by willtsmith. Our registered address is in Brighton, United Kingdom.
For privacy matters, contact us at: privacy@transcom.net
2. What information we collect
Deep Packet Filter collects the minimum information necessary to provide the service:
- IP address — Your current public IP address is registered with our servers to allow the DNS filtering service to authenticate your device. This is required for the service to function.
- Licence key — Your licence key is stored locally on your device and sent to our servers for validation.
- Usage data — Basic anonymised usage statistics (connection frequency, not content) may be logged for service monitoring purposes.
3. How we use your information
- To authenticate your licence and provide access to the service
- To register your IP address with our DNS filtering servers
- To maintain and improve the service
- To respond to support requests
4. Data retention
IP address registrations are automatically refreshed every 3 minutes while the app is running and expire when you close the app. We do not retain a history of your IP addresses.
Licence key validation logs are retained for up to 90 days for fraud prevention purposes.
5. DNS filtering
Deep Packet Filter operates DNS servers that block known advertising, malware, phishing, and tracking domains. DNS queries that are blocked are logged in aggregate (not individually) for blocklist maintenance purposes only.
DNS queries that pass through our servers are forwarded to our upstream DNS resolvers and are not stored or associated with your identity.
6. Third parties
We do not share your personal data with third parties except:
- Where required by UK law or a court order
- To our payment processor (PayPal) for licence purchases — governed by PayPal's own privacy policy
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing of your data
- Lodge a complaint with the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office)
To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@transcom.net
8. Security
All communication between the app and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Licence keys are stored locally on your device using your operating system's secure storage.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
